General Knowledge for SSC Exams (The State Legislature)

• The State Legislature consist of the Governor and one or two houses, as the case may be, if the state has only one House, it is known as Legislative Assembly.
• The other is the Legislative Council. The states having one House are called unicameral and the state having two Houses-bicameral.

Legislative Council (Bicameral States)

At present, only six states have a bicameral legislature. that is: Bihar, Jammu and ‘ Kashmir, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. All-other states have only one house.
