(Cut off) SSC Junior Engineers (Civil, Mechanical and Electrical) Exam -2024



The result of Paper-I of Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical and Electrical) Examination, 2024 was declared on 20.08.2024. Thereafter, Paper-II (Computer Based Examination) of the Examination was conducted on 06.11.2024.

2. Subsequently, a Notice No. HQ-C-3019/1/2024-C-3 dated 06.12.2024 was published on the website of the Commission, seeking ‘Option-cum-Preference’ from the candidates who had appeared in Paper-II of the Examination. Accordingly, Option-cumPreference was obtained online from the candidates during the period from 09.12.2024 to 13.12.2024.

3. Representations received from the candidates with regard to the tentative Answer Keys of Paper-II of the Examination have been carefully examined and the Answer Keys have been modified wherever necessary. The Final Answer Keys have been used for evaluation accordingly.

4. As per the provision of the Notice of the Examination, marks scored by the candidates in both Paper-I and Paper-II have been used for determining the final merit and cut-off marks. As per the para 13.7 of the Notice, the marks of Paper-I were normalized by using the formula published by the Commission vide Notice No. 1-1/2018-P&P-I dated 07-02-2019.

5. As per Para 13.8 of the Notice of the Examination, a few posts are common for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. As the engineering branches are different, different question papers were served to the candidates of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Because of altogether different disciplines/question papers, difficulty levels between the two question papers may vary. Accordingly, scores of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Paper-II of this Examination have been normalized with each other for determining the final merit and cut-off marks. 

6. As per Para 18.1 of the Notice of the Examination, minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II of the Examination are as follows:
(a) 30% (Paper-I- 60, Paper-II- 90) for UR
(b) 25% (Paper-I- 50 Paper-II- 75) for OBC/EWS
(c) 20% (Paper-I- 40, Paper-II- 60) for all other categories

7. As per Para 18.3 of the Notice of Examination, allocation of Posts and Departments to the provisionally shortlisted candidates has been made on the basis of the performance of candidates in Paper-I and Paper-II and the preference of Posts/Departments exercised by them online. Subject to their qualifying in the Document Verification to be conducted by the respective User Departments, a total of 1701 candidates have been provisionally shortlisted for the further selection process as follows: -

8. Category-wise break-up of candidates shortlisted for the post of Junior Engineer along with the total marks obtained by the last selected candidates are given below. In cases where candidates are selected against horizontal category vacancies [i.e., OH (Code4), HH (Code-5) & PwD-Others (Code-8)], total marks of such last selected candidates are reflected against their respective horizontal category, not against their vertical category [EWS (Code-0), SC (Code-1), ST (Code-2), OBC (Code-6) & UR (Code-9)]: -

12. If a candidate scoring more than the cut-off marks in the final result of the Examination is not shortlisted due to any reason, he/she must represent the Regional Office concerned of the Commission within one month from the declaration of the final result. 

13. As per Para 16 of the Notice of the Examination, Document Verification (DV) will be conducted by the User Departments/ Organizations/Offices after the declaration of the final result. Post declaration of the final result of the Examination, further process of Document Verification and appointment formalities will be undertaken by the allocated User Department/ Organizations/Offices of the shortlisted candidates. If a candidate does not receive any correspondence from the allocated User Department Department/ Organizations/Offices concerned within a period of six months from the declaration of the final result, he/she must communicate immediately thereafter with the User Department/ Organizations/Offices concerned. Further, the Commission will not, in any circumstances, entertain any correspondence regarding Document Verification/ appointment formalities from the shortlisted candidates. 

14. No Reserve List/ Waiting List is prepared by the Commission. Unfilled vacancies in the final result and vacancies arising out of the non-joining of shortlisted candidates or vacancies arising due to any other reason will be carried forward by the User Department to the subsequent year of recruitment as per the extant rules. 

15. Final Answer Keys as well as Marks of the shortlisted/ not-shortlisted candidates will be uploaded on the website of the Commission shortly.
