Staff Selection Commission conducted the Stenographer Grade C & D Examination 2012 on 29.7.2012 and re-examination on 26.8.2012 at various centres. The result of the written examination was declared on 29.8.2012. Out of 7618 candidates declared qualified for skill test for Stenographer Gr. ‘C’, 2206 candidates appeared in the skill test. Out of 43556 candidates declared qualified for skill test for Stenographer Gr. ‘D’, 16240 appeared in skill test.

In view of large number of vacancies remaining unfilled in the previous years due to unavailability of sufficient number of candidates proficient in stenography, Commission decided to apply different cutoffs (in term of mistakes) to qualify the skill tests for both Grade C and D posts for candidates for inclusion in SL and RL. The candidates qualifying skill test at relaxed cutoffs were considered for filling up of vacancies which remained unfilled after allocation of candidates as per their merit cum option in the select list. Cut-off on mistakes in skill test for different posts are :-

  • Select List for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ : upto 5% mistakes for UR and upto 7% mistakes for all reserved category candidates.

  • Reserve List for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ : upto 7% mistakes for UR and upto 10% mistakes for all reserved category candidates.

  • Select List for Stenographer Grade ‘D’ : upto 7% mistakes for UR and upto 10% mistakes for all reserved category candidates.

  • Reserve List for Stenographer Grade ‘D’ : upto 10% mistakes for UR and upto 15% mistakes for all reserved category candidates.

Allocation lists have been prepared keeping in view the number of vacancies reported by the User departments. While allocating posts of Steno. Grade‘C’ and Steno. Grade ‘D’ to the candidates, merit-cum-order of preference - criteria has been adopted. Order of preference for the posts exercised by candidates while applying for the examination and their option for groups (X/Y) of posts and Cadres/States exercised in the application duly verified by regional offices as received from concerned Regional offices in soft copy of Verified data have been considered.

After allocation of candidates in Select List and allocation in reserve list of Steno Grade ‘C’ was made for vacancies remaining after preparation of the Select List, similar procedure was followed in the case of Steno Grade ‘D’ posts. After such allocation in Reserved List-I for Steno Grade ‘D’ some eligible candidates remained unallocated due to blank/ invalid/ limited options. All such candidates were considered for allocation against the remaining vacancies of Steno Grade ‘D’ in RL-2 with their options replaced with default options as appearing in the Notice.
