Prime Minister NarendraModi has accepted the invitation extended by US President Joe Biden to attend the Leaders' Summit on Climate and the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate on April 22 and 23, spokesperson of the ministry of external affairs (MEA) ArindamBagchi said on Friday. "Prime Minister Modi welcomed President Biden's initiative and accepted the invitation.
Biden invited 40 world leaders to take part in the summit that is hosted by the US and aims to highlight the urgency and the economic benefits of actions to stop climate change. The two-day summit will be held virtually in view of the coronavirus pandemic and will be telecasted live for public viewing.
The summit will reconvene the US-led Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, which brings together 17 countries responsible for approximately 80 per cent of global emissions and global GDP, PTI reported.
"We expect that during his visit, Mr Kerry will be interacting with several ministers, including the external affairs minister as well as ministers of finance, petroleum and natural gas, environment, power and new and renewable energy.

Google has announced to contribute 25 million euros towards the European Media and Information Fund to strengthen media literacy skills, fight misinformation and support fact checking.
In the coming weeks, the Fund will open for proposals from academics, nonprofits and publishers based in the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and the UK.
Independent committees made up of industry experts will select the winning ideas and Google won't be involved in any decision making related to the Fund, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Since 2015, we've provided funding and technical support to organizations focused on misinformation, including innovative new models like CrossCheck in France, and provided digital verification training to 90,000 European journalists, receiving over 400,000 visits to our training website," Google informed.

Corporate investments in debt mutual funds have seen a sharp recovery after the initial months of the pandemic saw companies pull money out of these funds. Since then, corporates parked billions of dollars in debt schemes, taking corporate investments to a three-year high.
Corporate investments in debt funds increased by 27% in the 11 months to February 2021, compared to 14% growth during the same period last year. The average monthly corporate assets under management by debt funds stood at 10.16 trillion as of end-February.
The liquidity-fuelled rally in Indian stocks saw many Indian companies raise funds through share sales from the public and from private equity investors. Equity capital raising in fiscal 2021 was the highest ever seen in the Indian markets. A lot of that capital found its way into debt funds, said an industry expert.
A Mint analysis of 2,485 publicly traded companies, which reported earnings for the three months ended 31 December, showed that net profit after adjusting for one-time items grew at the fastest pace in at least 25-quarters, at 72% from a year earlier, according to data compiled by Capitaline.

Due to their event horizon, the boundary beyond which nothing, not even light, can escape, we cannot see a black hole directly. But matter that falls towards a black hole is drawn in by its immense gravitational pull and becomes extremely hot and luminous.
