SSC Regional offices to get ISO tag by Sept 2013

The nine Staff Selection Commission regional offices in the country will be awarded ISO 9001 certification by the end of September.

“The Southern Region has become the third region to get ISO 9001 certification. All the nine regions in the country will get the certification before September 30,” the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Chairman, Mr N.K. Raghupathy, said here.

After the certification, the Southern Region will be equipped with separate computers for all the staff. These are now connected to a server in the headquarters at Delhi, he said.

He said there was an increase in the number of applications for various posts in the last two years and that SSC plans to conduct its first online departmental exam on July 12.“The problem with online exams is that it is very difficult to get computers. Since the departmental exam will need only a few computers, we are going to give it a try,” he added.

SSC is facing a crunch in staff to handle the increasing number of applications, he said adding that “we need over 500 staff with special skills. We have asked the Government for more staff.”
