SSC: Divisional Accountants /Auditors/UDC Exam

Divisional Accountants/Auditors/U.D.C. examination is held every year for recruitment to the following posts:

  1. Divisional Accountants in the various Offices of Accountants General (A & E) under Comptroller and Auditor General of India;
  2. Auditors' in the Offices of the Accountant General (Audit) in various States and other Audit and Accounts Offices under the Comptroller and Auditor-General;
  3. Auditors' in the Defence Accounts Department;
  4. Junior Accountants in the various Departmentalized Accounts Offices in the Central Ministries/Department;
  5. Upper Division Clerks in the Offices under the charge of various Commissioners of Income-Tax;
  6. Upper Division Clerks in the Offices under the formation of various Collectorates of Central Excise and Customs.

Eligibility

Age: A candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years on the 1st January of the year of examination. The upper age is relaxable in respect of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes, Departmental Candidates and such other categories of persons as may be decided from time to time.

Educational Qualifications: A candidate must hold degree of a recognized University or its equivalent.

Application

The examination is held usually in the month of March. Blank application forms and other particulars are published in the Employment News in the month of October of the previous year. The last date for the submission of application is usually in the 2nd week of November every year.

Note:

Both the question paper will contain "OBJECTIVE MULTIPLE CHOICE" items, each containing four alternative responses. All parts except Comprehension and Writing Ability of English will be printed in diglot in both Hindi and English.

Syllabus

General Intelligence: The questions in this test will be based on understanding instructions, determining relationships, similarities, relevance, drawing conclusions and similar intellectual functions.

General Awareness: The questions in this part will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will be designed to test the knowledge of the current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity and Scientific Research.

Comprehension and writing Ability of English: Questions will be designed to test the candidates understanding and knowledge of English language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms and antonyms etc. There will also be questions on comprehension of passages.

Arithmetic: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate to perform fundamental arithmetic operations and his skill in working out problems relating to percentages, ratio and proportion, average, estimates, rounding numbers, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time.
