Justice R A Mehta refuses to take charge as Gujarat Lokayukta

Despite the Supreme Court clearance to his appointment as the Lokayukta of Gujarat, Justice (Retd.) R A Mehta has written a letter to the governor of Gujarat Dr Kamala, refusing to take charge as the Lokayukta.

Justice Mehta, in his letter to the governor, also said that he was declining to take charge because of the damage to his credibility and a possible non-cooperation from the government in performing his duties in future.
