UMANG App


  • Government launched the UMANG’s international version in coordination with Ministry of External Affairsfor select countries that include USA, UK, Canada, Australia, UAE, Netherlands, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Nationale-Governance Division (NeGD) have developed this app to drive Mobile Governance in India.
  • It provides a single platform for all Indian Citizens to access pan India e-Gov services ranging from Centralto Local Government bodies and other citizen centric services.
  • It provides easy access to a plethora of Indian government services ranging from - Healthcare, Finance,Education, blousing, Energy, Agriculture,Transport to even Utility and Employment and Skills.
  • Indian Medicine Central Council (Post Graduate Ayurveda Education) Amendment Regulations, 2020
  • The new regulation has come after the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) amended Indian Medicine CentralCouncil (Post Graduate Ayurveda Education) Regulations, 2016, to include the regulation to allow the PGstudents of Ayurveda to practise general surgery.
  • CCIM is the statutory body that regulates the Indian Medical systems of Ayurveda, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and UnaniMedicine.
  • Earlier, Indian Medical Association has been opposing the Centre's move to allow traditional systems of AYUSFI tooffer allopathic therapies and treatment.

::ECONOMY::


Government approves 28 Food Processing Projects more than 320 crore rupees in ten states


  • The government has approved 28 Food Processing Projects worth over 320 crore rupees.
  • These projects supported with a grant of over 107 crore rupees by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries were approved under the Scheme for Creation and Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities- CEFPPC in the Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) meeting.
  • These projects spread over 10 states are likely to generate employment for nearly 10 thousand people.
  • These 28 projects will create a processing capacity of 1237 Metric Tonnes daily and are spread across the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Assam, and Manipur.

Negative yield bonds


  • China sold negative-yield debt for the first time, and this saw a high demand from investors across Europe. 
  • There was a huge demand for the 4-billion-euro bonds issued by China. 
  • China’s 5-year bond was priced with a yield of –0.152%, and the 10-year and 15-year securities with positive yields of 0.318% and 0.664%.
  • These are debt instruments that offer to pay the investor a maturity amount lower than the purchase price of the bond.
  • These are generally issued by central banks or governments, and investors pay interest to the borrower to keep their money with them.

Mount Vesuvius


  • The Italian Culture Ministry announced on November 21 the discovery of well-preserved remains of two men, who perished during the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. 
  • The eruption was a catastrophic event that destroyed the ancient Roman city of Pompeii and killed around 16,000 people.
  • It is located in southern Italy near the coastal city of Naples, the 4,203-ft (1,281 metres) tall Vesuvius is the only active volcano in mainland Europe.

Science and Technology


Chang’e-5 mission


  • China’s Chang’e-5 lunar mission will become the first probe in over four decades to bring back samples of lunar rock from a previously unexplored portion of the Moon.
  • Early in 2019, China’s Chang’e-4 probe successfully transmitted images from the far side of the Moon, also referred to as the dark side. 
  • This was the first probe to land in this portion of the Moon.
  • The goal of the mission is to land in the Mons Rumker region of the moon, where it will operate for one lunar day, which is two weeks long and return a 2 kg sample of the lunar rock possibly by digging about 2 metres deep into the surface of the Moon.
  • The mission comprises a lunar orbiter, a lander and an ascent probe that will lift the lunar samples back into orbit and return them back to Earth. 
  • Chang’e-5 comprises a robotic arm, a coring drill, a sample chamber and is also equipped with a camera, penetrating radar and a spectrometer.
