Charanjit Singh Channi is the next Chief Minister of Punjab
- Charanjit Singh Channi took oath as the chief minister of Punjab today in a ceremony skipped by his predecessor Amarinder Singh but attended by Rahul Gandhi.
- The Captain, whose shock exit befuddled the top brass, decided to skip the event even as the high command was keep to put up a show of strength after months of infighting between Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
- Channi will be the first Dalit to hold the post in the state. SukhjinderRandhawa, who was the frontrunner for the post just a few hours before Channi’s appointment, was given the post of deputy chief minister along with BrahmMohindra, AICC Treasurer Pawan Kumar Bansal tweeted.
- Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat on Sunday said the party will also try to bring Captain Amarinder Singh on board and hoped that the decision to appoint a Dalit Chief Minister – a first in Punjab- will help the grand-old party in other poll-bound states.
- “I am proud to be part of the process of making the first Dalit CM for the state. We will try to bring Captain Amarinder Singh on board. There will be two Deputy Chief Ministers. Only the Chief Minister will take oath tomorrow and the cabinet will take it later.
- The decision on making Dalit a CM should help us in other poll-bound states. The decision for the face for upcoming polls will be taken later,” Rawat said.

FBI says body matching description of missing Gabby Petito found in Wyoming
- Police and FBI agents searching a national park in Wyoming for the missing Gabby Petito found a body "consistent" with the 22-year-old woman on Sunday but said they had not yet made a formal identification of the remains.
- The body was discovered in a remote area of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, near the Spread Creek Dispersed campground where law enforcement officials had directed their search, FBI spokesman Charles Jones said.
- "Earlier today human remains were discovered consistent with Gabrielle 'Gabby' Petito," Jones told an afternoon news conference.
- "Full forensic identification has not been completed to confirm 100% that we found Gabby, but her family has been notified of this discovery," Jones said, adding that the cause of death was yet to be determined.
- The site was not far from where two travel bloggers filmed the couple's van, seemingly abandoned, along a dirt road near Spread Creek on the evening of Aug. 27, two days after Petito's last confirmed contact with her family.
- Members of Petito's family reported her missing on Sept. 11, 10 days after her 23-year-old boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, returned home from a months-long cross-country trip in the van without her.

LIC launches 'Pragati' mobile app
- LIC launched a new mobile app ‘PRAGATI’ (Performance Review Application, Growth And Trend Indicator) for exclusive use of its Development Officers. This feature was launched at the hands of LIC Chairperson M R Kumar in the presence of Managing Directors, Mukesh Gupta, Raj Kumar, Siddhartha Mohanty and Mini Ipe and other senior officials of the Corporation on September 17, 2021.
- ‘Pragati’ is a comprehensive mobile application which gives various information which are updated in near real-timeabout the performance of their agency force in critical areas of business performance like Premium collection, agency activisation, prospective MDRT / centurion agents etc., apart from monitoring their team on activities such as usage of agents mobile app and NACH validations. There is also a calculator to measure their cost ratio.
- In these days of digital explosion, gathering information is crucial for any officials to effectively discharge their duties. The scenario becomes more important when it is related to the marketing verticals of any organization where real time data and information is utmost necessity for decision making and preparing market enhancement strategies.

PankajAdvani wins Asian Snooker Championship 2021
- Advani was up against a former winner and a seasoned campaigner Amir who was in formidable form in the best-of-eleven final. It was PankajAdvani though who dictated most of the final in his 6-3 victory. Advani drew first blood by winning the first frame with a 55 break. After that a 50 break in the second and some fine potting in the third made the ultimate winner enjoy a 3-0 lead before the Iranian pulled one back.
- At 3-1, the Indian employed his billiards knowledge to give his opponent limited scoring opportunity and capitalised on every opening he got to go 4-1 up. The next two frames were shared by the finalists with a remarkable display of quality potting from both players.
