Rajnath Singh inaugurates water structures in Madhya Pradesh under 'Jalabhishekam' campaign

  • Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated more than 57,000 water structures constructed in Madhya Pradesh under 'Jalabhishekam' campaign from New Delhi. 
  • Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also attended the program virtually organised in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan at Bhopal.
  • AIR Correspondent reports, Defence Minister Mr Rajnathsingh while inaugurating water structures virtually under 'Jalabhishekam' campaign said that Water conservation work being done by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan with public participation will be helpful in achieving the goal of water conservation and building self-reliant Madhya Pradesh. 
  • These water structures were created during COVID era by linking the work with the MNREGA scheme.  Union Minister Mr Rajnathsingh said that the 'Jalabhishekam' Campaign is fulfilling the intention of 'water for every farm and work for every hand'. This will prove to be helpful in the betterment of the villages. 

::INTERNATIONAL::

Pakistan Navy conducting 'Aman' exercise off the coast of Karachi

  • The seventh edition of the multinational maritime exercise Aman-2021 will be held in Karachi and in Pakistan waters from Feb 11 to 16.
  • It was announced by Pakistan Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Naveed Ashraf during a media briefing held at the Pakistan Navy Fleet Headquarters here on Monday.
  • “With a resolve against terrorism and piracy, carrying high the slogan of ‘Together for Peace’, the Aman Exercise is conducted by the Pakistan Navy after every two years in the form of a collaboration between the navies of various countries to maintain a safe and sustainable maritime realm and, above all, enhance interoperability between regional and extra-regional navies,” said Rear Admiral Ashraf.
  • With around 45 countries participating in the exercise along with their surface and air assets, special operation forces/ marine teams, senior officers and observers, Aman-2021 will have two phases: a harbour phase and a sea phase.

'India Toy Fair-2021' website inaugurated

  • Aimed at boosting toy manufacture in India and improving its global market share, the government announced the first ‘India Toy Fair-2021’ to be held from February 27 to March 2, 2021
  • Bringing together all stakeholders of the Indian toy industry, the fair was jointly inaugurated by the respective ministers of education, textiles and commerce and industry with the launch of its official website.
  • The website for the ‘India Toy Fair 2021’ will enable children, parents, teachers, exhibitors, etc. to register themselves to participate in the virtual fair and showcase various facets of the ‘Indian toy ecosphere’. 
  • It is the first ever digitally accessible exhibition and platform which will provide an opportunity to not only explore and buy a variety of toys from over 1,000 exhibitors across states and UTs, but also to participate in insightful webinars, panel discussions and activities and network with various stakeholders of the toy industry.

::SCIENCE AND TECH::

Pakistan tests surface-to-surface cruise missile Babur for a distance of 450 km

  • Pakistan conducted a successful training launch of Babur Cruise Missile IA, having a range of 450 kilometers with capability of engaging targets at land and sea with high precision, the ISPR said.
  • The missile was launched from a state of the art Multi-Tube Missile Launch Vehicle. The training launch was witnessed by Dr Raza Samar, Chairman NESCOM, Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali, Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, senior officers of Strategic Plans Division, Army Strategic Forces Command, scientists and engineers of the strategic organizations.
  • Chairman NESCOM appreciated the standard of training and operational preparedness of Army Strategic Forces which was reflected by the proficient handling of the Weapon System in the field and fulfillment of all laid down training parameters. He also appreciated the contributions of scientists and engineers towards enhancement of Pakistan’s strategic capability.
  • The President, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs also congratulated the participating troops on conduct of successful training launch. This is the third successful training launch of any missile system by Pakistan in less than one month.
  • Earlier, on February 03 Pakistan conducted training launch of surface-to-surface Ghazanvi ballistic missile capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear weapons up to range of 290 kilometers. On January 20, Pakistan carried out successful flight test of Shaheen-III surface-to-surface ballistic missile, having a range of 2750 kilometers. The test flight was aimed at re-validating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system.

::SPORTS::

Hima Das appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police by Assam

  • The first Indian to win a global track title, Hima Das, has been appointed as 
  • a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Assam government.
  • The announcement comes after a meeting chaired by chief minister 
  • SarbanandaSonowal that amended Assam’s sports policy to appoint sportspersons as Class-I and Class-II officers in different departments of the state.
  • While Hima Das will take charge as a DSP, medals winners from the state at the Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games will be appointed as Class- I officers by the Assam government.
  • Hima Das, who said that the appointment is a huge motivation, is busy preparing for the upcoming Indian domestic season that begins this weekend in Ranchi.
