Chief Minister Launches 'NaariKoNaman' Scheme In Himachal Pradesh
- The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) will charge women travellers only half the fare for their travel within the state. Launching the 'NaariKoNaman' scheme at the Government College Auditorium, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also issued concessional tickets to women.
- Seema Thakur, the first woman bus driver in the state, drove him in a state transport bus to the event venue.
- The chief minister had announced the 50 per cent concession on bus fares to women on April 15, Himachal Day.
- In another scheme, Thakur announced a reduction in the minimum bus fare from Rs 7 to Rs 5 to all passengers across the state. Thakur also said the government will sanction 25 new posts of women drivers in the 'Ride With Pride' government taxi service - an initiative to ferry women passengers and senior citizens.

Ferdinand Marcos Jr sworn in as President of the Philippines
- Ferdinand Marcos Jr, the son of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr, won the elections on 9th May with 31.6 million votes and was swore as the 17th President of the Philippines on Thursday, 30th June 2022. He took the oath at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila before the Supreme Court Justice, Alexander Gesmundo. The former President’s daughter and his running mate, Sara DuterteCarpio, swore as vice president on 19th June. The two will be serving the nation until 2028.
- This inauguration has ended Duterte’s presidential term of 6 years, whose legacy is known for putting an end to drugs that claimed the lives of more than 6,000 citizens. He was also known for targeting the media and civil society by imposing tax evasion charges on those who challenged his government policies.
- Marcos Jr. is more popularly known as “Bongbong” in the country and won on the platform of national unity, promising more jobs, lowering prices, and increasing investment in agriculture and infrastructure.
- According to the Presidential Commission on Good Governance, the Marcos family had stolen $10 billion from Filipino citizens during his reign. Although the family denies using state funds for personal use, campaigners say martial law victims are still fighting for justice
- After 36 years, his son has restored his family’s dynasty to the Malacañang Palace. However, critics say this may bring back corruption and martial law in the country.
::ECONOMY::
Gross GST Revenue of Rs. 1,44,616crores collected for June 2022
- The gross GST revenue collected in the month of June 2022 is ₹144,616 crore of which CGST is ₹25,306 crore, SGST is ₹32,406 crore, IGST is ₹75887 crore (including ₹40102 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is ₹11,018 crore (including ₹ 1197 crore collected on import of goods).
- The gross GST collection in June 2022 is the second highest collection next to the April 2022 collection of ₹1,67,540crore. The government has settled ₹29,588 crore to CGST and ₹24,235 crore to SGST from IGST. In addition, Centre has also settled ₹27,000 crore of IGST on ad-hoc basis in the ratio of 50:50 between Centre and States/UTs in this month. The total revenue of Centre and the States in the month of June 2022 after regular and adhoc settlement is ₹68,394 crore for CGST and ₹70,141 crore for the SGST.
- The revenues for the month of June 2022 are 56% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year of ₹92,800 crore. During the month, revenues from import of goods was 55% higher and the revenues from domestic transaction (including import of services) are 56% higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year.
- This is the fifth time the monthly GST collection crossed ₹1.40 lakh croremark since inception of GST and fourth month at a stretch since March 2022. The collection in June’2022 is not only be the second highest but also has broken the trend of being low collection month as observed in the past. Total number of e-way bills generated in the month of May 2022 was 7.3 crore, which is 2% less than 7.4 crore e-way bills generated in the month of April 2022.

GreenCo partners with IIT Hyderabad to set up a sustainable science and technology school
- Renewable energy company Greenko has joined hands with IIT-Hyderabad to set up an institution where students will be educated towards sustainable goals like climate change mitigation, circular economy, energy transition among others.
- The company said the Greenko School of Sustainable Science and Technology (GSSST) will open towards the end of this year and, by June 2023, will induct first batch students for MTech and PhD in sustainable science and technology, followed by BTechprogramme.
- According to Greenko, the MoU was signed in presence of Union Minister for Education DharmendraPradhan. "We have to innovate and establish our own models for achieving self-sufficiency as well as for furthering global welfare. In the 21st century, technology is available to ease our job. India is going to play a leading role in the fourth industrial revolution and IIT Hyderabad will play a major role in building the brand India globally. We have to fulfil Prime Minister’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat," MrPradhan was quoted as saying in the company statement.
- It will be the first institute in the country to focus entirely on teaching sustainable science and technology.
- Union Education Minister DharmendraPradhan was present at the time of signing of the MoU.
- DharmendraPradhan said that to achieve self-reliance and advance global welfare, we must innovate and build our own models.
- Technology is accessible in the twenty first century to make work easier.
- India will play a leading role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and IIT Hyderabad will have a significant impact on the internationalization of the Indian brand.

Ellorda Cup: Boxers AlfiaPathan and Geetika won gold medals
- Reigning youth world champions AlfiyaPathan and Gitika produced sensational performances to win gold medals at the inaugural edition of the Elorda Boxing Cup in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, today.
- KalaivaniSrinivasan and JamunaBoro signed off with silver.
- With the addition of two gold, two silver and 10 bronze, India concluded its campaign with an overall tally of 14 medals.
- Alfiya did not have to break a sweat and got a unanimous 5-0 verdict over LazzatKungeibayeva, the 2016 world champion, in the women’s 81kg category final.
