Applications are invited from Indian citizens for filling up the following vacancies for the year 2011 on temporary basis likely to be permanent for the post of Inspector (Hindi Translator) Group ‘B’ in Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force. The posts have all India liability and selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India and even abroad. The selected candidates will have to complete the prescribed basic training successfully. On appointment, the candidate shall be governed by the ITBPF Act and Rules.

Last date for receipt of applications is 23rd May, 2011 for all States except for Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu & Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep for which last date is 30th May, 2011.

Age: 30 Years. Cutoff date for determining the age will be – 23rd May, 2011

Pay Scale and Other Allowances: -

  • a) Pay Scale – Pay Band 2, Rs. 9300 – 34800 + Grade Pay of Rs. 4600.
  • b) Other allowances: The post will carry Dearness Allowance, Ration Money, Washing Allowance as admissible from time to time, Special Compensatory
    Allowance while posted in specified border areas, free uniform, free accommodation or HRA, Transport Allowance, Free leave pass and any other allowance as
    admissible in the Force from time to time under the rules/instructions. These posts will be covered under new Restructured Defined contribution Pension scheme.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from a recognised university in Hindi or English with Hindi and English ascompulsory or elective subjects or as the medium of examination at the degree level.
  • Master’s Degree from a recognised university in any subject other than Hindi and English with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at the degree level.
  • Master’s Degree from a recognised university in any subject other than Hindi and English with Hindi or English as the medium of examination and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subjects or as medium of examination at the degree level.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as the medium of examination and the other as compulsory or elective subject plus a recognised Diploma or Certificate course in Translation from Hindi to English and vice versa or two years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Department including Government of India Undertakings and working knowledge of computer application or equivalent.

Physical Standards:

Height :170 cms for male and 157 cms for female
Chest: 165cms for male and 155 cms for female

Application Fees:

Application Fee will be Rs. 50/- for candidates belonging to General and OBC category only and no fee will be charged from SC/ST and Ex-Servicemen
candidates. The candidates should attach the Indian Postal Order/Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS) or Crossed Bank Draft drawn in the name of INSPECTOR GENERAL (NORTHERN) FRONTIER, ITBP, “PAYABLE AT SBI IMA DEHRADUN, CODE NO 0739. The candidates paying application fee by CRFS must affix the duly cancelled CRF Stamps at the specified space on the application form.

Enclosures Required To Be Attached With Application:

Attested copies of following documents/certificates are required to be attached with theapplication form.

  • Certificates about the educational qualifications, clearly showing the subjects studied by the candidate and the medium of instruction at Graduation and post Graduation level.
  • Date of birth Certificate (Matriculation or 10th Class Certificate or Certificate issued by National Open School /National Institute of Open School as proof of date of birth.)
  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/OBC Certificate (if belonging to any of these categories) issued by not lower than Tehsildar or SDM/SDO. Note: - OBC Certificate must be in prescribed proforma as attached at Annexure –‘IV’.
  • Domicile Certificate issued by local revenue authorities for verification of citizenship / for claiming relaxation in height and chest.
  • Discharge Certificate for Ex-Servicemen.
  • Two latest passport size photographs. (one pasted on application form and another on admit card duly attested)
  • IPO/Bank Draft/CRFS of Rs.50/- (for General and OBC Candidates only).
  • One self addressed envelope of 4”X9” size with Rs. 5/- postage stamp affixed on the envelope.
  • Envelope containing Application must be superscribed in bold letters

Selection Process:

The candidates whose applications are found to be in order shall be issued Admit Cards to appear in recruitment test. The date and place of recruitment test will be indicated in Admit card. Candidates will have to undergo the following tests:

a) Physical Measurement: Candidates who are found eligible on verification of documents will be screened first for Height, Chest (for male candidates only) and
Weight measurements.

Note:- Those who do not qualify the Physical Measurement Tests will get eliminated from the process there only and will not be allowed to appear in further tests.

(b) Written Examination – 200 Marks (100 Marks each paper) The PET qualified candidates will be required to pass the following examination
with at least 50% marks in each written paper (excluding Interview) and 55% marks in aggregate (including Interview). The SC/ST candidates will be given concession upto 5% marks as per Govt. of India instructions on the subject contained in DOP&T OM No. 36012/23/96-Estt.(Res.) Vol.II dated 03.10.2000.

(c) Interview - 20 Marks:-The Candidates, who obtain the prescribed passing marks in written examination, will be called for Interview to check personal bearing, response, aptitude, general level of intelligence etc.

(d) Detailed Medical Examination: Candidates shortlisted in order of merit will be put through a Detailed Medical Examination to assess their fitness.

proforma as per Annexure ‘I’ to ‘V’, either type written or neatly hand written on one side only on full size plain paper with passport size photographs affixed on application/admit card (duly attested by a Gazetted Officer) along with application fee, enclosures as in para-9 to The INSPECTOR GENERAL (NORTHERN) FRONTIER, ITBP, POST OFFICE- SEEMADWAR, DISTT.- DEHRADUN (UKD) – 248146.
