President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurates 65-day long Ramayana Conference in Ayodhya

  • President Ram NathKovind visited the temple town of Ayodhya on Sunday and inaugurated a Ramayan conclave in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and others.
  • President Kovid said that this event is very important to promote cultural and religious tourism.
  • Emphasising the importance of Lord Ram in the context of the city, President Ram NathKovind took to Twitter and wrote, "The popularity of Ram Katha is not only in India but worldwide. There are many readable forms of Ramkatha, including Ramcharit-Manas of GoswamiTulsidas in north India, Kritivas Ramayana in the eastern part of India, Kamban Ramayana in the south."
  • The president also congratulated the chief minister and his team for starting the conclave.
  • "I am happy to be here among you all. I believe that Ramayana is such a unique book that gives a message to human beings to follow the values of life," he added.
  • The reading material related to Lord Ram, from around the world, is being compiled by the Ayodhya Research Institute.
  • On another note, the President said, "I think when my family named me, they must have had the same reverence for Ram."

Government extends payment deadline for 'Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme' till September end

  • The government has extended the last date for payment of amount under the direct tax amnesty scheme ‘Vivad se Vishwas’ (from dispute to trust) without any additional charge by one month to September 30, 2021 due to technical reasons, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement.
  • “Considering the difficulties being faced in issuing and amending Form no 3, which is a prerequisite for making payment by the declarant under ‘Vivad se Vishwas’ Act, it has been decided to extend the last date of payment of the amount (without any additional amount) to 30th September, 2021,” it said. Necessary notification to this effect shall be issued shortly, it added.
  • CBDT clarified that there is no proposal to change the last date of payment with “additional” amount, which remains October 31, 2021.
  • The scheme, which was enacted on March 17, 2020, closed on March 31 this year. However, taxpayers who have already made declaration within the stipulated deadline of March 31 could make payment without any additional amount or penalty up to September 30, 2021. As per the previous notification dated June 25, the last date of payment of the settled amount without any additional charge was August 31, and with additional amount was October 31, 2021.

Ministry of AYUSH launched Y-Break App

  • Union Ayush Minister ShriSarbanandaSonowal has announced a bouquet of activities and campaigns of Ministry of Ayush to commemorate AzadikaAmritMahaotsav. This includes national launch of Y Break App fromVigyanBhawan, yearlong campaigns of cultivation of medicinal plants in farmland and distribution of medicinal plants to households, sensitisation of School and College going students on Ayush systems.
  • ShriSonowal said that the week-long activities and campaigns, from August 30 to September 5, will aim at ultimately reaching to remote areas of the country and address all categories of our population, from children to our old people, from farmers to corporate.
  • Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a series of events being organised by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence. The Mahotsav will be celebrated as a Jan-Utsav in the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari.
  • The activities include cultivation of medicinal plants on 75,000 hectares of land to benefit farmers on August 31, the launch of the Y-Break App, a five minute Yoga protocol for office goers on September 1, distribution of Ayush prophylactic medicines with a special focus on the above 60 years age group on September 2, taking medicinal plants to the doorstep of 75 lakh families during the year under ‘AyushAapkeDwar’ programme on September 3, a series of sensitisation lectures and distribution of IEC material to school and college students on September 4 and a webinar on Y-break application on September 5. The Ayush week will begin with a national webinar for Ayush students on the topic “Surviving the storm through Ayush Shelter” on August 30.
  • Addressing the press conference, ShriSonowal said that the Ministry of Ayush has taken the opportunity to enhance its service delivery for the benefit of the masses of the country. He exuded confidence that all state governments will also participate and help the Ministry in its endeavour.
  • “Ayush has the capacity and wisdom to serve all sections of the society and we will showcase this strength and commitment during this week. And this commitment will continue to be delivered throughout the year,” the Union Ayush Minister said.

  • To celebrate second anniversary of Fit India Movement and as part of AzadikaAmritMahotsav, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, ShriAnurag Singh Thakur launched the Fit India Mobile Application at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi on National Sports Day today. Minister of State, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports ShriNisithPramanik also graced the event. Secretary, Sports Shri Ravi Mittal and Secretary, Youth Affairs, SmtUsha Sharma were also present on the occasion.
